Avocados! Good or Bad?
Avocados use to have a bad reputation because of the 31 grams of fat per fruit. We now we know that the 2/3rds of this fat is actually monounsaturated and along with its beta-sitosterol it helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
In addition avocados contain strong phytochemicals and high levels of vitamins and fiber that may help combat heart disease, and improve vision, inflammation, and digestion and help prevent cancer.
The high fat levels in avocados help to suppress the appetite as it increases the sensation of satiety in individuals and thus may help in weight loss.
Quick tips: Use an avocado spread on toasts instead of butter or to replace mayonnaise; it’s a healthy substitute!
